Opening the Advent Calendars! Day 20

A quartet of drams remain in the 2017 Advent Calendar contingent. But there's no need to be sad just yet. The first of the four, hiding behind those windows marked 20, are a joy to behold. Fitting for the time of year, really!

Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition Blended Scotch Whisky: Something of a homage to famous Prohibition era rum-runner Captain William McCoy, this blended Scotch whisky is a higher-strength expression than the classic (bottled at 50% ABV rather than 40%), and features notes of toffee, dark chocolate, grassy malt and crushed nuts.

Teeling 14 Year Old - The Revival Volume III: A celebration of the revival of whiskey distilling in Dublin and the history of maturation in ex-bourbon barrels, this beauty has the rather unusual distinction of being finished in Pineau des Charentes barrels, a type of fortified wine made from grape must and Cognac eaux-de-vie.

The Single Cask Whisky Advent Calendar – #WhiskyAdvent

Single-Cask-20.png

Kilchoman 100% Islay - 7th Edition: Produced completely on Islay using barley grown, harvested, malted, distilled and matured at the distillery, the seventh release of this stunner is slightly less peated than the standard Kilchoman character would suggest. This expression makes the most of whisky distilled in 2010 and matured in a combination of fresh and refill ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels until 2017.
