Michter's US*1 Unblended American Whiskey: An intriguing expression from Michter’s – bourbon must be matured in new oak, but this one’s been aged in ex-bourbon barrels! Ignore the confusing moniker, this whiskey is marvellous.

Okayama Single Malt: A Japanese single malt from the comparatively little-known Miyashita Distillery, in the Okayama Prefecture. This particular expression is made using Japanese barley and has been aged in ex-brandy barrels.

Kinahan's 10 Year Old: A handy Irish single malt from the Kinahan’s brand. Expect lots of luscious green apples on the nose, and a bundle of fresh spices to come through on the palate. Delicious.

Tomatin 20 Year Old 1996 (Cask 91622): Dun Bheagan (Ian Macleod) – An independent bottler long admired for their tasty whisky wares, Ian Macleod has well and truly come up trumps with this 20 year old Tomatin single malt. The whisky was distilled in October 1996 and bottled in 2017, and in between was finished in a Pedro Ximenéz cask. Just 539 bottles were released, so once it’s gone, it’s gone!

Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old 1989 (Special Release 2015) or Glenkinchie 24 Year Old 1991 (Special Release 2016): Kicking off the Premium Whisky Advent Calendar is a 25 year old Dalwhinnie, matured in refill American oak hogsheads. This bottle was part of Diageo’s 2015 Special Releases collection! You may have a Glenkinchie 24 Year Old 1991 (Special Release 2016) in your window – which is also a thing of deliciousness!

The Macallan 25 Year Old Sherry Oak: Well, well, well. This hard-to-find Macallan is simply a joy to behold. The Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago have it a flawless 100/100 score, and we quite agree. Expect a mega fruity nose and sweet spices, leading to a surprise smoky element. Macallan at its best.
